At fourteen, I ran away from home. One of the few options for a teen on the streets is prostitution. At the time, it was the only choice I believed I had and the path I chose. Fifteen years later, I began to understand the impact that choice had on the way I view the world today. The lenses I wear have many shades of gray and I often see shadows lurking in safe places. Yet there is rose' in those lenses as well. Much of who I am today and my strengths have come from the very streets that left me emotionally raw, bloodied, and crippled. Today, I would not trade those years for anything. They were a part of my destiny. While you may have never felt the angst of watching a cruel pimp beat another girl nearly to death, trauma and heart break come in all forms and have a lasting impact on the lives of us all. Many of my experiences will be shockingly relatable when presented in the way I do here. You will be able to laugh with me, cry with me, and learn from my aches and my mistakes. Here is my blog. Welcome to my journey, midway, from Survivor to Success. http://janedemjio.wordpress.com/author/janedemajio/
