Janel Andersen started designing kids clothing in 2005 after a 2-month trip traveling around Europe. She was inspired by the mini fashionistas running around the streets, and started to design her first baby and kids clothes collection in her travel journal right then and there.
Janel started with hand drawn illustrations, heat transfers, and kitchen table sewing machine sessions and promoted her collection through local street festivals. After seeing the great response, she started finding sales reps and selling the line wholesale. Today, the line is sold in boutiques all over the country and the rest of the world. The collection, now known as Nohi Kids, is a special combination of organic cotton and bamboo fabric, making her kids and baby clothes incredibly soft, easy to care for, and super high-quality.
After spending some time on the wholesale and design side, Janel wanted to explore the other side of retail and add "boutique owner" to the list. She opened her flagship brick and mortar store in Berkeley, CA called Bird & Bean in August 2016.
