Janelle Marie Rodriguez is a gradatingsenior at California State University of Northridge receiving a B.A inJournalism with an Emphasis in Broadcast and a Minor Degree in Spanish LanguageJournalism. Growing up, Janelle was involved inthe entertainment industry being casted in commercials, and was invited toparticipate in several kid segments ofUnivision Sabado Gigante and Despierta America. This form of Story-Telling, ignitedJanelle’s passion for journalism. Transferring into Cal-StateNorthridge, Janelle looked forward into participating with the Campus Station.Only finding out that students only had access if you were in an upper divisioncourse. That did not stop Janelle. Upon her first semester at the Universityshe joined the CSUN Latino Journalist Club, quickly attaining an executiveboard position as Vice President. It was there when she found out that thecampus had a bilingual multi-media publication known as El Nuevo Sol, where herfirst Spanish publication could be found. As accessibility to the newsroombecame available Janelle dived into any position. Upon graduating she has hadhands on positions in all areas of the newsroom including: producing, editing,writing and of course Anchoring on both television and radio formats. On her senioryear she landed two different internship opportunities. Janelle ultimatelyaccepted both position and used her time management skills to take fulladvantage of the opportunities. She was able to land a news intern position atUnivision 34 KMEX and a publicity internship at Starz Entertainment. When Janelle isnot reporting of watching the news, she enjoys spending time with her family.She also enjoys traveling and trying out new restaurants. With herpassion and drive, this south Florida native looks forward to her future in thebroadcast industry.
