Jane Simmons

Our identities never seem to capture the full depth and breadth of our experiences, our ideas, and our passions. Yet, I choose to identify as an environmentalist, a feminist, and an engineer. I do this because I think being intentional about whom we are shows that we aren't afraid to be something -- to own who we are. To downplay our identity hides what drives us. We need this drive to make decisions when decisions are difficult, to care when others cannot, and to tackle problems in a way no one else can.

I like dark chocolate, white wine, long car rides, and cassette tapes. I believe in the sustainable development of happiness and recycling. I love the smell of woodsmoke and rain. I know that smart and sexy are not mutually exclusive and that it is never too late to send a thank you note. I am passionate about the lake, women on the forefront of social change, and misconceptions about municipal biosolids.

This is me. I am me. This is it.
