I grew up in Louisiana where everything is accompanied by music. I received a degree in Computer Science in 1979 from Louisiana Tech University, just when the computer industry was experiencing a shift in focus from mainframe to Personal computers. It was an exciting time to work in the computer industry.

For the next 20 years, I worked with Apple, IBM, Atari, and University of California at San Diego, as well as starting two software development companies. We were breaking new ground, and were a part of developing a whole new paradigm in computing.

I was fortunate enough to have spent a good portion of that time living and working abroad, facilitating translations for business software systems. I found that music is a big part of every culture. I was living in Berlin when the Wall fell, and was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” performed there.I witnessed the release of Nelson Mandela in South Africa, and the first democratic elections Poland in 40 years occurred while I was in Warsaw, Poland. I’ve also been to the Follies in Paris, and the Cabaret is Berlin. Each of these events was accompanied by music, music, and more music – just like home.

In 1996, I began working with Clear Channel Radio, HBC and Radio One in Houston, TX to broadcast audio and video of their most popular radio shows on the internet. A part of the project was to replace on-air ads with ads more appropriate for a wider internet audience. These programs became the foundation for those used by Clear Channel today. This was my first foray into the Entertainment Industry, and I was quickly hooked.

For the last 10 or so years, I have managed the IT department for an Independent Music Distribution Company. Today, we are witnessing changes in the music industry, which are just as dynamic and exciting as the 1970’s and 1980’s were for computing. I’m excited to be a part of the music industry at this major time of re-definition and evolution.
