Janet Otieno-Prosper is an award winning Kenyan journalist and an International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) Fellow. She holds a Masters degree in Communication Studies from The University of Nairobi.

She previously worked at The Citizen, Tanzania’s leading English newspaper as the Features Editor. Janet previously worked for Africa Review, Nation Media Group's digital magazine (www.africareview.com) as an editor/writer in charge of Southern Africa region since its launch in 2009 until May 2014.

Janet is passionate about health, environment, human rights and development. In 2013, Janet was honoured by the United Nations for her articles on food security in Africa. She has also been an African Journalism Fellow with Tony Elumelu Foundation and PesaCheck Fellow.

Janet also worked at Times News Services as a Sub-Editor/Writer besides serving as an Editor of African Executive magazine.

Janet believes that journalists can reshape the society through setting an agenda for positive action.
