Janet O'Grady

Aspen, Colorado

I am a writer, editor, and entrepreneur, with a proven track record of concepting, curating, and producing luxury, lifestyle, and travel content and experiences. Originally from Philadelphia, I had a dream to live in the mountains—and in 1987, I turned my dream into a reality. Along with my partner and late husband Randy Beier, I made my passions into a brand and a company when I co-founded Aspen Magazine (which I sold the end of 2012), and was its Creative Director and Editor in Chief. My experience includes working with high-octane people, and prestigious luxury brands. What a professional and personal adventure it was!

Over a 25 year span, I strategized content on a small budget, and wrote hundreds of short and long stories for Aspen Magazine, as well as freelance pieces when time permitted, and edited and art directed thousand of articles.

Here are just a few of my favorite experiences that also became stories: eating fried chicken with Julia Child; taking Caroline Krug of Krug Champagne skiing, and hosting an over-the-top Krug experience in an Aspen mansion; racing Audis on an ice track in Austria; summiting Kilimanjaro, and also several of Colorado's 14ers; art directing Hunter Thompson for a cover shoot; briefly meeting the Dali Lama at the Aspen Institute (as well as many other luminaries); and skiing as many of the great mountains in the world as possible, from the Rocky Mountains to St. Moritz, Chamonix, and Verbier, to Portillo and Las Lenas in South America. My passions include reading, writing, art, design, photography, and all things digital.

I'm curious by nature. I love traveling, and chase Great Experiences, from cities to mountains. And I'm now beginning an exciting new chapter in my life and work by living in both New York City and Aspen.
