Bella Bella

Who am I? First of all, I am a mother of three wonderful and talented (now adult) children. They have and continue to bring me great joy. I cherish the times when we are all under one roof for one of our rare family reunions. I am principal of a K-12 school in the First Nations community where I spent my childhood. After grade 7, I went away, *courtesy of the Department of Indian Affairs, for most of my life in order to attend high school and university and to purse a career as an educator. I have worked in both First Nations and public schools and left a great position with Surrey School District to finish my career off at the Bella Bella Community School; the community has warmly welcomed me back and I don't know if I can ever leave again☺ *The school that I work at now offers k_12 so children no longer have to leave in order to obtain a grade 12 graduation certificate. That chapter of my life is something that I haven't written about yet, but I intend to when I have time...
I love photography and love being in the middle of the Great Bear Rainforest as there is always something to shoot! My best shots have been taken the early morning and at dusk. Over the summer I became addicted to playing online Scrabble online and am about to wean myself onto a couple of exciting new novels which I have recently borrowed from other people.
I know that success varies between students and I look forward to my continued work with classroom teachers at BBCS and the parents of the students to see what we can do when we put our heads together in the spirit of collaboration and open-mindedness.
