Janice Llamoca

Los Angeles

When Janice was 19, she didn’t know where in entertainment she fit in the most. So she decided to intern for a sports team, a magazine, a radio station and a television network. Needless to say, she figured out her way, a blend of a few forms, and ended up taking a path down the digital realm.

After finishing up her internship with L.A.’s number-one Hip Hop station Power 106, Janice Llamoca teamed up with the L.A. Leakers and created the DJ group’s first website, LAleakers.com. The site started out as a blog with daily new music posts, music news and occasional exclusive releases, and turned into a channel to help push the Leakers digital brand even further.

Most recently, Janice worked with the music editor at HipHopDX, one of the leading news websites in Hip Hop, to curate the music and video section of the site. At DX, she used her skills obtained from freelancing in production at MTV News and developed a daily news show titled “DX Daily,” which informed the audience about the top three Hip Hop-oriented headlines of the day. From writing the script to hosting the Complex TV-distributed show, the Los Angeles-native was involved in every step of the creative process. She was also the first hired on-air talent for the online medium.

While pursuing a career as an on-air journalist, Janice has also shared her talents with the pen, writing reviews, essays and conducting multiple interviews.

Janice Llamoca graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Cal State Fullerton in 2009 and is currently in Spain pursuing a master’s degree in journalism (in Spanish) at the Universitat de Barcelona. She hopes to expand her career in media in both English and Spanish.
