“It's hard to find women engineers.”
Ugh. Being part of a tech company, I have been interviewing and working with engineers. The candidate pool doesn’t have a lot of women. The interview panels don’t have a lot of women. The eng floor in the building doesn’t have a lot of women. Being the only woman in a meeting room, we all know what has happened next.
I always wonder where these women engineers are that people keep saying that they can’t find. There are schools, boot camps, companies, even Facebook groups that you can source women engineers from. But for some reason, women engineers are “hard to find.” I want to make us “easy to find.” I want to see more women on the eng floor.
Hey companies, let’s do things right. Hey women engineers, we are visible. 👀
Note: All She and They are welcome :)

A bit about me:
I’m a UX designer who knows how to code and product management, currently living in San Francisco.
I also wrote a children’s book called How to Be a Good* Girl, which inspires young girls to challenge gender stereotypes. How to Women* and How to Ally for Women at Work are coming real soon. ✨
I’m incredibly passionate about empowering girls and women via different mediums. I hope everyone, especially women and minorities, will be encouraged to speak up and inspire others to do the same.
Thanks for being brave and strong 💪,
Janice
