Saratoga, New York
At the age of 2, I immigrated to the USA from Chobienia, Poland, and with my family resided in Cohoes, NY. By 5, I began displaying an artistic nature, and in 1st grade my painting of a flower pot was displayed in a Junior Art Museum. I attended Cohoes High School, where I played team soccer and volleyball and graduated with honors as ‘School Artist’, receiving the first ever awarded Art Scholarship for my excellence in artistry and service throughout my 12 school years. I attended SUNY, in Cobleskill, NY, majoring in Wildlife Technology and minored in Equine Husbandry. There I was a member of the Intercollegiate Equestrian Riding Team, illustrated the Schohairie County magazine called ‘Floodwood’ and took on an internship with the NYS Delmar Wildlife Center. I transferred to CSU in Ft. Collins, CO, to study Equine Sciences and I engaged in the Rocky Mountain lifestyle, became a rodeo buff, learned country swing, and one summer became a Wrangler, leading trail rides in Colorado’s Roosevelt National Forest. I worked at the Equine Training Center and held an internship at the Equine Reproduction Lab and additionally assisted with seminars. As a member of the Collegiate Horseman’s Association, I illustrated horse show programs, a 4H coloring book and participated in Equine Equitation and Showmanship classes and as a member of the Horse Judging Team, I top scored with a 50 at Wyoming’s Northwest College judging competition. I graduated with my BS degree and engaged in the Equine Industry exercising Thoroughbred racehorses. In 1996, I earned a MA degree at NYIT in Old Westbury, NY, and majored in Broadcast Communications and Graphic Design, graduating with an honorable 3.78 GPA. I was immediately hired by the NYRA in their CCTV Dept. as a sports network designer and chyron operator for their live and simulcast horse racing shows. In 2000, I moved to CA, to accept a similar position with TVG Network, Inc., where I excelled in video design. I returned to Saratoga, NY, in 2003, temporarily resorting to exercising horses till I began work with SolvIT, LLC of Cambridge, NY. This was the start of my new career in web design, development and marketing.
I recently become more involved in bicycling and participating in fundraising events and rode in the 2012 5 Boro Bike Tour. This year I am entered in July’s Warrior Dash at Windham Mountain, NY and have created my own Team, JMiszArts Warriors, as a fundraiser for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
