I was recently visiting Mt. Rushmore as part of attending a family reunion at a ranch in the Black Hills. I was impressed when reading about the history of Mt. Rushmore at one of the park kiosk displays where there was a quote by a former South Dakota governor on the importance of achieving tangible results rather than focusing on receiving the credit. Considering I live in our nation's capital, sometimes it seems as though the opposite is the case!
I am striving to make a contribution in my professional and personal life in bringing about change in a positive manner to make our world a better place.
I am interested in connecting with other like-minded individuals who are working on energy issues pertaining to energy sustainability and related issues including the "social costs" of energy, energy security and the future of oil supply, climate change and its relationship to energy, the development and evolution of electric power, and transportation and the automobile.
Many of these topics are discussed in Daniel Yergin's book titled "The Quest" and in David J. C. McKay's "Sustainable Energy - Without the Hot Air." I also highly recommend "Currency Wars" by James Richards who talks about money as a form of stored energy (p. 223)
I currently manage the Leaders in Energy LinkedIn group. The purpose of the group is to connect individuals who delight in thinking about, discussing, and collaborating on energy, environmental, and sustainability topics. Feel free to check out the group at: http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Leaders-in-Energy-Research-Communications-4733995 The group also holds monthly networking Happy Hours in the Washington DC Metro area.
