Lake Orion

Jan Kruszewski is a writer, musician and artist. After high school at Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep, Jan attended Central Michigan University where he graduated with a double major in English and 2D design. During his collegiate career, Jan worked as a photo technician in both the dark room and computer lab and was part of many extracurricular clubs such as photo club (where he held the title "Sgt. at Arms") and small writing clubs. Jan was also heavily involved in student films, shooting his own short films and also helping to write and act in a feature-length student film. Beyond his writing, Jan has displayed his fine art in galleries all over the midwest. Jan has also participated in many juried art shows and curated his own.

Since his graduation from CMU in 2011, Jan started making music with Ryun Weber (formerly English, IKILLJACK, The Lunar Calendar) and Randy Nelsen (formerly The Lunar Calendar) and Sugar Baron was born. After two years as a touring act, Sugar Baron grew their fan base immensely and had the opportunity to share the stage with such bands as Stepdad, Robert Delong, Royal Teeth, American Authors, DEATH, Flint Eastwood, FLASHCLASH, The Hand Grendades, Deastro, Tunde Olaniran and countless others. In February 2014, after the release of two full-length albums, the guys decided to take a hiatus from Sugar Baron and pursue their own ventures.

Since the disbandment of Sugar Baron, Jan has been writing/recording/producing a new project under the working title "The Poor State" with Indie record label Bona Dea Music run by former Atlantic Records' artist Liz Larin. Jan hopes to release a new EP sometime in mid April.
