Jannene Olson

Retired United States Navy veteran Jannene Olson is a dedicated member of her Camarillo, California community. The mother of a student at Adolfo Camarillo High School, Olson works tirelessly to support her son’s academic and extracurricular endeavors. An animal lover, she has a particular interest in deaf dogs, and advocates the adoption of pets as well as the benefits of pet therapy. Jannene Olson volunteers with numerous community organizations, including the El Toro Battalion, affiliated with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Olson spent over two decades in the Navy, emerging with expertise in cryptology and the administration of highly classified, secure documents and systems. Though often stationed in California, she served at duty stations in locations around the world, including the British Indian Ocean Territory, London, and Kunia, Hawaii. Through her work with the military, Olson cultivated a consummate attention to detail, excellent skills in communication, and the ability to motivate not only herself but her peers and co-workers. Jannene Olson is a graduate of the University of LaVerne, where she majored in Psychology. During her time in the Navy, she attained numerous specialist certifications. Olson retired from the Navy in 2005, when she began volunteering full-time in support of her son and her Camarillo community. She enjoys the performing arts, hiking and the outdoors, and kayaking, among many other interests. One of Jannene Olson’s especial volunteer efforts is the organization Love on a Leash, which provides training and guidance for pet-related therapy. The organization connects appropriate pets with people who are candidates for pet therapy, such as people in hospice care facilities, special-education students or students with difficult life situations, or residents in assisted living.
