Listen to my music

Praised for the amazing quickness, accuracy and warmth of her voice by music industry figures like, Vincent Musisi of Swangz Avenue, Jaq has invited comparisons to African music contemporaries like Brenda Fassie.

Currently a radio presenter with 93.3 KFM, Jaq is both a singer and song writer who will be releasing her new single; “Oukawamunabi”, The Song of Hope, on 26 April 2013.

Born Jackie Deweyi Namataka, Jaq is currently pursuing a qualification in Journalism and has always had passion for music having done several music projects before breaking through and working with some of the best in Uganda’s music industry.

Jaq benefited from growing up in a home that nurtured her creativity. Her mother encouraged her to develop her artistic leanings which include acting, writing songs as well as music.

“Music is not a new passion; I started writing songs with my mum’s help at a tender age of 15”. She says passionately. “I always knew it was a matter of time until I started making real music. My mum always told me I was good at music, in fact she always compared me to Brenda Fassie.

Based on the reception of her new release, the future looks promising for the singer/song writer.

“I think she has a lot of potential and I like her confidence and the fact that she knows what she wants.

Her song is going to make people appreciate their mother tongues. I think it's going to do well most especially in mbale.” says Benon Mugumbya, Production Director, Swangz Avenue.
