Jared Marcell

New Orleans, LA

I am a New Orleans native and a loyal asset to my mother city's music industry. Like any New Orleans musician's story should start, I began young enough and smart enough to keep my age a minor detail when booking my bands at bars.

My drive to perform and my early lessons in the business end of music led me to my studies at Loyola University New Orleans' Music Industry Studies Program. While at Loyola, I served as a T.A. for two required recording classes and sat on the board of two separate student-run businesses.

Shortly after completing my degree in 2008, I received a promotion at the Music Shed Recording Studio from Assistant Engineer, a position I'd held for nearly a year and a half while attending school, to Studio Manager. In total, I have over five years experience with the studio team and ownership building the company and its solid reputation.

At the Music Shed, I worked behind the scenes setting up logistics and coordinating with artists' managers. My work includes consistent bookings with Dr. John, Wardell Quezergue, Harry Connick Jr., the Marsalis family, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, Davell Crawford, Papa Grows Funk, Bonerama, and many more. National and international clients that I've worked with include R.E.M., the Great Big Sea, Matt Schofield, and MuteMath - to name a few.

On the artist side of the industry, I've most recently begun a venture called Bantam Foxes, a trio comprised of myself and twin brothers Sam and Collin McCabe from St. Louis. In the year and a half since Bantam Foxes launched, I've produced 1 LP, 2 EPs, 9 singles, and 7 official music videos. We have also played over 50 regional performances stretching from Mobile, AL, to Austin, TX, with notable followings in Beaumont, TX, Lafayette, LA, and Jackson, MS.

This past Fall, Bantam Foxes procured a 10-week radio promotion campaign with Tinderbox Music and landed a spot on the CMJ Top 200 chart as a result. We are currently planning a follow-up full-length record to be released this Fall, followed by another radio campaign and regional touring.

Prior to my involvement with Bantam Foxes, I played for the instrumental indie rock outfit Smiley with a Knife for 4 years. With them, I played over 150 shows and produced 2 EPs, 2 full length records, and over 100 promotional videos.
