Jarrad West

Jarrad has trained at both WAAPA & VCA in Musical Theatre and Theatre respectively, enabling to fully appreciate the challenges of both genres. He co-directed Angels in America for ANU’s Papermoon, receiving huge critical acclaim when it was staged in January of 2008. Before moving to Canberra, Jarrad worked professionally as a director and choreographer for both the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and the Yellow Glass Theatre Company. For his direction of Beautiful Thing for the Garrick Theatre, he won the Robert Finley Award for Best Production of 2004. He directed the cabaret shows Funny Lovin’ That Theatre and Tickets- Music- Passport; the latter of which was staged successfully at Teatro Vivaldi’s in April of 2007. In 2000 he wrote and performed in the play NO Stamp Required which won the ITA Drama Festival Award for Best Production of that year. He wrote the winning entry for Canberra Repertory’s inaugural monologue competition: Coffee In A Cardboard Cup. He has appeared in Everyman Theatre’s Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, In Cold Light, Singer, Dancer, Actor and The Musical of Musicals (the Musical)! and he directed its productions of Latin! Or Tobacco and Boys and The Laramie Project.
