Jasmeet Singh was empanelled as an IPS officer from the 1984 batch. He has completed his graduation in Economics from the University of Rajasthan. Prior to being appointed as an IPS in Chennai, he used to work as a professor. His portfolio as an IPS reflected versatility, wherein, he has served as Superintendent of Police, AIG and AIG (Technical Services). After completing his work tenure at CBI, Jasmeet Singh went back to Chennai in May, 2006.

Thereafter, he was promoted as the Additional Director General of Police. As a part of this job, he managed multiple roles as an ADGP (Economic Offences Wing, ADGP (Admn), ADGP (Crime Branch CID) and ADGP (Training) etc. Besides, he also held additional charge of the Chennai Police Housing Corporation. He was conferred with the rank of DGP in November, 2012 and posted as the DGP/Chairperson, Chennai Uniformed Services' Recruitment Board.6.

On 5th February, 2016, he essayed the role of Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). He contributed to the para-military force in India with his discipline and dedication. He is primarily responsible for promoting a sense of security amongst the inhabitants of border areas prevent trans-border crimes.
