Jasmeet Singh IPS

Jasmeet Singh was born on 30th October, 1953 in Lucknow. He is an IPS Officer of Haryana batch of 1975. He became a member of the National Human Rights Commission on 8th April, 2013. He completed his Masters in Physics from Lucknow University before joining the IPS. Prior to his appointment in the NHRC, he was heading the National Investigation Agency as its Director General. After heading NIA for over 3 years, he presided over the growth of NIA into the premier counter and terrorism Investigation Agency of the country.
He has held various notable positions in the State and Central Government, including the posts of Director General, State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana. He has also been associated with CBI while holding the positions of a Superintendent of Police, Joint Director, Additional Director and Special Director. Jasmeet Singh has a formidable reputation for upholding the law passed for protection and promotion of human rights.
Jasmeet had shown keenness to protect the human rights throughout his tenure with the Haryana police division. He has handled several investigations while working with CBI and the NIA. He is also credited with expeditious investigations for several complaints referred to the CBI by the NHRC.
