Jasmine Bass

Houston, Texas, United States

Hello,

My name is Jasmine Bass. I am currently a hard-working outgoing broadcast journalism graduate of the University of Houston main campus. Like most students, I started out unsure of what career I wanted to pursue and after choosing my major, debated numerous times on changing it. However, I grew up in Mesquite, TX and was fortunate enough to audition and be selected by 88.5FM Mesquite School's Radio Station as a student DJ. There, I finished the two year program.

It is this experience, which I referred back to during those aggravating times of uncertainty. KEOM was the jump start of my passion for radio, and the experience influenced me to major in broadcast journalism when I enrolled into UH. From there, I became a member of our on-campus radio station, Coog Radio, and the radio host of my entertainment news show, “Coog Chatter.” With my degree, I plan to pursue a career in radio, become a radio personality, and one day have my own radio show under my belt. I also decided to explore television broadcasting, and became a co-producer and entertainment coordinator for the University of Houston Student Video Network’s original show, “The Cougar Hollywood Report. I plan to venture into the television side of broadcasting and become an entertainment news correspondent.

Right now I am taking as many steps possible to ensure that I become very successful in my field. I have finished working as the Social Media Coordinator for MJWJ Global Radio Network's "To Be Honest," which airs M-F 8-10PM/C; www.mjwjtalkradio.com and interning with Houston's 104.1 KRBE's Roula and Ryan Show. I am now a Promotions manager at 97.5 ESPN & YAHOO 1560 Sports Radio, and I have also become apart of the CBS Radio Houston Event Staff.
