Jason Fisher
Teacher in Randfontein, South Africa
Hello, I’m Jason. I am an English teacher at Randfontein High School and the Deputy Principal.
Randfontein High is a trendsetting school as it was the first school in Gauteng West to adopt a fully digital approach to learning and teaching. At the end of 2014, the vision was disseminated to all stakeholders and today we offer our students a world-class, 21st-century education with a 100% matric pass rate every year.
My core responsibility is managing the digital project which is comprised of three components: digital resources, digital pedagogy and the digital space. Our innovation team collaborates with school's across the globe by sharing good practices, encouraging innovative trends like blended learning, experimenting with technological tools and investigating emerging technologies and their place in the South African education system.
I dream technology, talk technology and strive to improve the learning environment at the school. In 2016, my school won the Premier's Award for the most ICT innovative school in the Province. In 2015 and 2016 I was a finalist in the National Teacher Awards for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching and Excellence in ICTs in Education respectively.
My present interest is in the application of ICTs in assessment and evaluation practices.
I’m looking forward to working with all of you!
