This topic I chose is what makes a good song? The emotion behind the lyrics and the story the song tells. The lyrics and emotion within each song is a major key to make a good song. I believe without emotion behind the lyrics good music would not exist. In order to make great music the lyrics have to be good. The emotion behind the lyrics has to be good and the story behind the song. That is the only way to make good music. Making good music is important to songwriters and future songwriters. The reason why I have say it’s important to songwriters is mainly because they’re the ones that write the songs. They have more of a story to tell by writing the song. Even if they are not singing or rapping the song, they have more of a connection to the song. These songwriters have more emotion towards the song and they write the story that is being sung or rap. If the songwriter sings or raps it’s a good thing cause they can sing or rap their story for everyone to hear. I think if you can connect with a songwriter’s song then it’s a great song. The greatest songs are the ones you can connect to emotionally.

My name is Jason Rosario and I’m attending Full Sail University. My major is Music Production and I’m in the Bachelor Degree Program. The only expertise I have with writing about this topic is only because I listen to music everyday. I read the lyrics to every song I ever listen to. I connect with a lot of music emotionally. When I was in my teens I used to write songs. The only problem they never had any emotion behind the lyrics. The songs I wrote never told a story. As the years past the songs I wrote started to develop emotion and told a story. The reason why it changed is because my life was changing. The stories I told behind these lyrics had to deal with my life. I believe that is the best way to get good songs. Only because it expresses my emotion within the lyrics and the song told a story. Writing songs like that can be good because people go through similar things in life and can connect to your song. I have friends who also write songs. I listen to their songs and also read the lyrics. Sometimes when I read or listen it has a lot of feeling behind it and that’s what makes the song great. Being able to connect to a song emotionally is the best feeling. That’s when you know you or other songwriter’s made a great song.
