Content and Social Media Strategist in San Diego, California
I'm an experienced content strategy specialist and online writer, with over ten years of combined freelance and full-time experience. Since 2006 I've been a paid social media consultant, helping brands develop a social media presence and advising them on how to effectively grow their online communities and work with bloggers. I've spoken on brands, blogging and social media at the 2009 PRSA International Conference, the 2011 and 2012 South By Southwest Conferences, and the 2012 and 2013 Dad 2.0 Summits. I've worked on the corporate side as a social media manager for Life Technologies and Intrexon, two of the world's pre-eminent biotechnology companies, and as a content marketing specialist for eDriving.com.
I've had a number of other content-focused roles, beginning over 9 years ago as the founder and managing editor of DadCentric, an award-winning and popular website for fathers. Recognized by Parents Magazine as Editor's Choice For 2011's Best Dad Blog and selected by Babble.com as 2011's Best Group Dad Blog, the site and I have been featured on ABCNews.com, BusinessWeek.com, USA Today, Time.com, CNN.com, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and the CBS Evening News. In addition, I was a Featured Contributor at Man of The House.com, a site for men that's been the subject of feature articles in Ad Age and The New York Times. I've had a toe in the motorcycle writing (and riding) world. I was a feature writer for Victory Motorcycles' corporate blog, and was a contributor to RideApart.com and RevZilla's Common Tread blog, where my focus was on motorcycle industry news. I'm also an occasional contributor to the James Beard Foundation award-winning travel website Roads and Kingdoms. (No, I don't know Anthony Bourdain.)
