There are plenty of reasons why staying active can be challenging. Our brains are wired to save energy and take it easy when we can. In the past this was crucial for survival when finding food and building shelter took serious effort. But now? We can get pretty much anything delivered to our door and spend most of our workday sitting down. No wonder getting active can feel like an uphill battle! Our emotions play a big part too—whether it's negative past experiences of exercise, comparing ourselves to others, or worrying about what people might think.
