Career fullstack software engineer. For 20+ years I've been building web software (eg. SaaS) and leading teams of awesome engineers. Graduated from Auckland University in 1999 with a BSc { computer science }.

Chief engineer for at least 6 B2B SaaS startups; one unicorn and 2 successful exits.

Extensive experience up and down the entire stack form the performance-tuned indices of the database to the CSS-debugging of the frontend.

In a Principal Engineer type capacity I help startups scale engineering and product teams from Series A to IPO and beyond.

  • Deep technical understanding of how modern SaaS platforms are built.
  • Passion for developing and leading engineering teams through seasons of high-growth.
  • Creates “cultural legacy” intentionally in any startup he touches.
  • Directly contributed to 2 successful startup exits.

A father of four, a resident of Arizona, an avid off-grid camping enthusiast.

The photo here is my inquisitive and rambunctious 2nd child enjoying the waves breaking on the seawall of Milford Beach in New Zealand - I found the same enjoyment at the same spot some 35 years before.

His ability to provide insights and thought provoking ideas stem from his inquisitive wonder of the world and his experiences in it. He has a seemingly innate ability to look just beyond where one is looking, help widen one's vision a bit more, and encourage

Jason is an amazingly talented guy, and I took my current role to get a chance to work with him a second time. I have meet many poor leaders in my career, some average ones, and a scant few really good ones, but Jason is the only person I have worked for twice. He is a rare individual who combines the technical skills of a very experienced engineer, with the passion and focus on customers found in the best of product managers. He is particularly good at taming the chaos of early stage startups
