Jason Hendel

My name is Jason Hendel and I currently live in the wind city, Chicago, Illinois.

I am 23 years old, have 1 younger brother and live with 3 of my best friends.

I think I was born for the sea. Mom is from Miami, Florida, Dad is from New London, Connecticut (both coastal cities) and although I am born and raised in Chicago, I was born with the perfect equipment for the water... webbed toes. How perfectly weird?!

Trips to Florida to visit the Grandparents consisted of my brother and I spending the morning and afternoon alone with my grandfather and grandmother while my parents were away at sea enjoying the sun, weather and whatever lied beneath the surface of the ocean. This routine of listening to their adventures while I relaxed quietly with my grandparents quickly became old. Before long, I was 13 years old with my PADI Open Water Scuba Diver Certification ready to embrace the deep blue sea.

I have now been scuba diving for 10 years and have received various forms and levels of certification. My family now resides in Miami which has allowed me to take over 100 dives, primarily within the Caribbean or off the coast of the Florida Keys. With this in mind, I believe it is safe to say that I have truly embraced this style of diving. From deep sunken shipwrecks to what seem like shallow swimming pools engulfed with aquatic life, I know what the keys have to offer. If you are a true diver you will agree with me when I say that Scuba is a way of life.

I decided to create this blog to help Florida Key divers get the most out of the experience. From selecting the right company and dive boat to grabbing the best bite to eat, I intend to ensure that you maximize your day.
