Jason Matey
Before he opened his own practice in Linden, New Jersey, Attorney Jason C. Matey gained a lot of experience in his field after graduating from law school. For his first venture, Jason C. Matey served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Marie P. Simonelli, J.S.C. In this position, he drafted legal memoranda and mediated in special civil matters. Jason C. Matey’s clerkship served as a springboard in September of 2006 to become an Associate at Rothenberg & Pashaian in Union, New Jersey, and in April of 2007, an Assistant Prosecutor at the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in Elizabeth, New Jersey. While at Rothenberg & Pashaian, he wrote appellate briefs for insurance law, medical malpractice, and product liability cases. He also argued summary judgment motions and motions to dismiss, and deposed defendants, plaintiffs, and expert witnesses. From November of 2007 to September of 2009, Jason C. Matey held the role of Associate at The Law Offices of Nabil N. Kassem in Clifton, New Jersey. He took on many responsibilities that led to him opening his own firm in September of 2009, The Law Offices of Jason Charles Matey. Jason C. Matey currently handles cases in the areas of personal injury, criminal, family, immigration, and municipal court. As Partner of his firm, he both litigates and settles matters out of court. To date, he has successfully tried 10 criminal cases as well as numerous DWI and Title 39 violation municipal court cases. Jason C. Matey completed his undergraduate work at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he graduated cum laude in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Political Science. While at Marist, Jason C. Matey earned a position on the Dean’s List, and he also took part in the national criminal justice honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma. This group promotes excellence in scholarship and performance as well as recognizes academic merit in undergraduate, graduate, and juris doctorate students of criminal justice. Jason C. Matey attended Rutgers School of Law-Newark, where he earned his Juris Doctorate and received the C. Clyde Ferguson Scholarship. While at Rutgers, Jason C. Matey also kept his GPA at 3.5 and served as Rutgers Law Record’s Senior Articles Editor.
