Communication allows us to open the windows to our own island universes; and through the visual arts, we are able communicate and comprehend what cannot be put into words. I believe that in a culture saturated with advertising and visual media, there is a very real threat of illiteracy advancing its hold over a great many minds as the term is redefined to include those without an understanding of the new media and its subtle psychology. As a father, there is nothing more important to me than teaching and learning.

It is necessary to acknowledge that in our visual culture, there certainly are large portions of any designer’s sensibility that have developed intuitively. My professional experience as well as practice in related fields of painting, illustration, and most notably sculpture have endowed me with a spacial understanding that lends itself to typographic precision and fluent composition.

I treasure the benefits of a curious and creative community. I believe that two people working in tandem can converge on a third mind; and in my creative practice, I always appreciate the opportunity to work collaboratively.
