With a career in the music industry spanning over 2 decades, Jason “JC” Ricks has been afforded the pleasure to be a part of many recording artist’s success, including TLC, Wu Tang Clan, Notorious B.I.G., Puffy, Faith Evans, Usher, TLC, Toni Braxton, Outkast, and Monica, to name just a few. While honing in on his craft of Promotions and Marketing, Jason worked hand in hand at Loud, Capital, Virgin, Arista, Epic and LaFace Records. His responsibilities centered on promoting and marketing the aforementioned artists. Building further on his prosperity, Ricks founded a consulting firm, working alongside heavy hitters like Interscope, Warner Brothers, Def Jam and Universal Records.
Furthering his career, Jason launched Earfull Music Publishing in 2006, and inked a deal with Warner Chappell Music. Since its inception, Earfull Music has built a strong catalog of hit records with The Pussycat Dolls, Ginuwine, Joe, Lloyd, and in 2009 received an ASCAP Award for Jaheim’s “Never” - the #1 Urban Adult Record. Of the total artists on Earfull Music’s roster, combined album sales exceed 60 million to date.
Jason partnered with the production team Co-Stars to establish Van Nuys Records through Warner Brothers Records. Jason discovered the label’s first artist Sabi, featured on Cobra Starship’s #7 Billboard 100 pop hit single, “You Make Me Feel Like.” She’s also featured on Britney Spears’ single “Drop Dead Beautiful. “ Sabi opened on Britney’s 2011 Femme Fatale Tour, and has most recently been featured on Wale’s “Where They Do That At.” The ASCAP 2010-11 Producer of the year and ’09 Songwriter of the Year, Dr. Luke, partnered with Van Nuys Records on the Sabi project. Jason's newest discovery Sizzy Rocket, just inked a deal with Universal Music Publishing. Worked with Carlito Olivero that’s the star on Hulu’s hit original series “East Los High” and Youtube's original series "Highwater Step Up". He was a finalist on X-Factor. Jason has proven himself to be loyal, hard-working and extremely successful during his upward climb in the music industry. Partner in 4 star Films and in 2019 inked a distribution deal with Empire for his label Invictus Music Group that will focus on streaming, Film and TV placements. Working with notable artists, strategizing careers, and always being ahead of the curve ball are just a few of the reasons he has become highly regarded in publishing, consulting and management.
