Jason Strober
Over the years, Jason Strober has acquired extensive experience in building companies from the ground up, beginning with the co-founding of FocaLink Media Services, Inc. The result of a class project at Stanford Graduate School of Business, FocaLink Media Services was opened by Strober and classmate David Zinman to serve companies that advertise on the Web. Along with a third business partner, Ron Kovacs, Jason Strober and David Zinman advised clients on maximizing their advertising expenses by offering two key services: MarketMatch paired advertisers with the websites their target audiences frequented in addition to delivering site statistics, while SmartBanner monitored the performance of ads and replaced those that were deemed ineffective. In 1997, Jason Strober began working as a venture capitalist at VantagePoint Venture Partners, a firm specializing in early-stage high-tech companies. Strober was made Partner in 2000 and focused on network infrastructure, eCRM, and Internet media investments. Strober worked closely with entrepreneurs to set strategy, develop realistic operating plans, hire executives, and close subsequent funding rounds. Strober's successful investments included Foundry Networks, WhoWhere?, and Bamboo.com. In 2002, Jason Strober established his second company, Treasure Games, Inc., out of his idea to give people a chance to win cash prizes by participating in game tournaments. Before selling the company 18 months later, Strober held responsibility for assembling the team that created the games and fulfilled the task of carrying out the search engine marketing plan. For the next four years, Jason Strober served as Head of Engineering and co-founder at Swish Marketing, Inc., which was later renamed Unbent Media, Inc. Strober’s responsibilities included hiring and supervising engineers, directing the engineering of every company system, converting business needs into technical specifications, and designing the first ping tree used for generating leads. Prior to embarking on his career path, Jason Strober studied computer science, symbolic systems, and psychology at Stanford University between 1985 and 1990. Subsequently, he pursued his Master of Business Administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business, obtaining the degree in 1995.
