This fall I'm moving to Seattle to start a Bioengineering Ph.D. at the University of Washington, where I'll be doing something related to synthetic biology. Previously, I spent a year in the Myers lab at the University of Utah writing software (extending iBioSim) for cell population modeling in a synthetic biology context. Before that, I got a math degree from the University of Kansas while doing some research in C. elegans genetics (Timmons lab), computational biology (Karanicolas lab), and synthetic biology (MIT iGEM team). I like problem solving and think that synthetic biology is going to present some good ways to do that.

Some favorite things of mine include rock climbing, cycling, exploring, novel writing, reading nonfiction, vegan cooking/baking, going on (long) walks, making/drinking good coffee and tea, and electronic music of all sorts.
