Jatin Mehta

Jatin Mehta is a prestigious businessman with a vast and in-depth knowledge of the diamond industry: he has founded two successful companies, as well as holding other numerous senior positions.

Jatin’s family have been working with diamonds and precious jewels since the 1960s and so Jatin began to learn the nuances of the trade whilst he was still in school. He established his first company, Su-Raj Diamonds (India) Limited in 1985. Within its first year, Su-Raj had achieved a Certificate of Merit for highest growth in exports and went on to receive an array of other awards during Jatin’s 25-year role as Chairman. Awarded accolades included the Outstanding Export Performance from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and merit for becoming the largest exporter and processor of cut and polished diamonds.

The company’s success was built upon Jatin’s constant motivation for higher quality whilst remaining true to ethical standards. The aim was to combine the impressive aesthetics of local craftsmanship with enhanced commercial knowhow, resulting with diamonds, jewels and precious metals becoming available to the mass market. Su-Raj Diamonds became one of the largest exporters in India during Jatin’s management, however in 2011 after many years of success, he decided to resign from his position in order to seek new opportunities.

Jatin’s expertise was also put to use in several advisory roles, both in quasi-governmental groups and other jewellery companies. In 1989, Jatin became the youngest ever Chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council – a position he held for four years. He has also chaired on the SEZ EOU Export Promotion Council, as well as serving as a Non-Executive Director at Forever Precious Diamonds and Jewellery Limited.

Today, Jatin runs the latest of his founded companies, Pride Jewellery FZE. Based in Dubai, the company trades gold and valuable diamonds and provides business consultancy throughout the UAE.
