Javiera Simonetti

My name is Javiera and I am a creative crafter, a fashion designer, a makeup artist, a hairstylist and a kid’s stuff lover. I would describe my job as an activity I do whenever I need money. Right now I am working on creating playful garments for kids, made from recycled/reused/rescued fabrics. You can see it in www.etsy.com/shop/Yaaystore and instagram @YaayStore. I’m most inspired by spiritual music, environmental topics, the smell of spices while I am cooking, the way that kids figure out things. My creative heroe is Marimeko, I love them because they have a bold and childish style even thought it may be “a little too much” for some. The best piece of advice I’ve received is the doctor Seuss quote: ”Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind” and the worst is “think that it could be worst” as if blocking all my shitty feelings would make me feel better. In my spare time I walk aroud, and wander about my life, and my future. My carreer path has been fun, full of colours, prints, textures, friends and team work. Some of the challenges I’ve had to overcome are to be true to my ideals even when the world where I live push me in the other direction and I got through them by immersing myself in relaxing music, thai massages, biodanza and yoga. The things you most need to do my kind of work are a both active and relaxed soul, because it is easy to stress when no jobs are on the way, and it is very important to be constantly looking for new ideas and projects to develop. The biggest lesson I’ve learnt is to never expect other people to think or/and act like you, and to tolerate that. My life motto is trust yourself and what surrounds you, because if you are in the correct path, things will be arranged armonically in order to help you accomplish your goals. One thing that frustrates me is when closed-minded people make fun of my thoughts when I try to explain really important stuff. When I was little I wanted to visit every country in the world. One day I will become an inspiration for many people that as me, works every day to have a happy, plenty and peacefull life.
