Dr. Bell earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors) in Music from York University in Toronto and a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Human Biology from the University of Toronto. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York City, where he completed a 2-year research scholarship under Dr. Steven Roser. He later completed a Resident Internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University, earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), and continued postgraduate training through the University of California, San Francisco program in Fresno. There, he completed an internship in General Surgery followed by a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He also pursued a fellowship in Texas under Douglas Sinn, D.D.S.
Licensed by the Medical Board of California, Dr. David Bell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of both the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. David Bell, jaw surgeon, began his career in the 1990s in Louisiana, practicing general and pediatric dentistry with Hollis Bray, D.D.S. He later worked with Edward H. Hobbs, D.D.S., in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Longview, Texas. After completing his residency, he practiced in Northern California at Mercy Medical Center and Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding. He also served as a clinical instructor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he worked with Drs. John Stella, Michael Zide, and Michael Warner. He later trained under Dr. Douglas Sinn before joining Kaiser Permanente in Anaheim, where he performed nearly 2000 orthognathic procedures and received the Golden Scalpel Award twice. In 2023, he founded Orthognathic Surgery MD, focusing entirely on orthognathic surgery.
His approach to patient care emphasizes trust, collaboration, and individualized planning. He uses advanced technologies, including 320-slice CT scans, 3DMD imaging, digital STL dental scans, and Materialize ProPlan CMF software, to plan procedures and create custom 3D-printed titanium hardware.
