My name is Victor Jawneh Gisbert, and I’m a student in the first year of the degree in marketing and digital media at the Tecnocampus University in Mataró, Barcelona.
During my high school years, I was very much influenced by the behaviour and habits of the youth. I believe that I wasn’t the best of students.
I managed to finish my two years of bachillerato, but then decided to change my social environment and not take the public university entrance exams.
Therefore, alongside with one of my best friends, I decided to embark on a new chapter in life by doing an advanced professional training in marketing and publicity combined with some hours of oenology, where our peers were very different from us, they were aiming to educate themselves in wine-tasting for pleasure.
Those two years changed our lives, we matured more and faster than ever, we made connections with teachers and considered them to be people to look up to , and discovered that what we were studying really motivated us. We discovered things that we would have never taken the time to look into just a few years earlier, and therefore my vision of education and studies also changed. When I finished my advanced professional training, I realised that it was only worth continuing my studies if I was really passionate about what I was learning and could apply this learning to my personal life. Nowadays, I am fascinated by the idea of learning and educating myself through a university program.
Parallel to my studies, I have always been a very athletic person. At a young age, I did rugby, football, tennis and swimming at the same time, and each my trainers would pressurise me to drop the other sports to focus on one. In the end I focused on football between the ages of eleven and fifteen, but I had also started skateboarding a few years prior to that, and loved it above everything else. Skiing has also been present in my life since I was very young so I was a bit lost altogether with so many sports to keep up with. In 2014 I decided to focus on skateboarding and snowboarding, which have been a big part of my life to this day.
As of my professional life, I have been in charge of my mother’s company’s e-commerce department. Since around six months ago, I am also part of the new marketing team, where we are working very hard to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves.
On a more personal level, I am currently working on two projects, a perfume brand and a sports cosmetic brand.
