Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. ~ Buddha

I was born in the UK and came to live in the USA when where I attended high school. I am currently a freshman at college in an honors program, and a triple major studying French, Spanish, and Sociology.

Last year I took a gap year before college and volunteered in my grandfather's orphanage in India. I also took conversational spanish classes in Granada, Spain, and worked in retail.

I am passionate about working with children. Also, I am interested in the use of animal therapy with kids. I spent some time during my gap year working for a high-quality preschool, which creates affordable and culturally responsive childcare locally. I also volunteered in their classes for adults with English as a second language. I have continued my work here in college breaks.

In an effort to empower girls and to combat bullying and low self esteem, I also helped to create and deliver a social and emotional intelligence workshop program for pre-teen and teen girls.

I am an advocate for equality and justice and have a passion for helping others through adversity. I aspire to create change in our world by being a global citizen and want to encourage others to do the same.
