Dr. Jay A. Butan

Since 1989, Jay Butan, DVM has served as the owner of CANAL ANIMAL HOSPITAL in Lake Worth, Florida. As a certified Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Jay Butan operates his veterinary hospital in accordance with the standards laid out by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Jay Butan, DVM began his road toward becoming a veterinarian by enrolling at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and after earning his Bachelor of Science in 1980, Jay Butan moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Jay Butan officially became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1985 after graduating with distinction from the specialized medical university.

After completing college, Jay Butan, DVM began applying his education in a professional capacity. For the next four years, Dr. Butan worked as the Hospital Director and Chief of Staff for Professional Veterinary Hospitals of America, Inc., in Southfield, Michigan.

Throughout his career as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Jay Butan has worked to help advance the field of animal health care. Since 1994, Jay Butan, DVM has also functioned as a Clinical Investigator for pharmaceutical companies attempting to develop safer and more effective medications, completing 25 studies for the Federal Drug Administration. Furthermore, in 1986, Jay Butan, DVM researched and published an article for the Oakland County Dental Society Journal entitled “Canine Dentistry Clinical Care and Prophylaxis,” concerning the importance of oral health in dogs.
