Jayakumaur Ravisankar

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Hey there! This is JK aka Jayakumaur, a masters student in software engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. To describe myself, I'd like to call myself a wannabe perfectionist (!) who loves to talk, travel and eat!. On the technical front, I'm fairly good with Java, SQL and Android. My current areas of interest are designing architecturally stable systems, android and database design.

My latest creation is an android application - PicoCale. Its based on the theme of bringing the user with notifications of pictures taken in his/her current locale. So when the user walks into a particular area, the application whips up the images taken within a specific boundary of the current location (based on a geofence) from the device and presents a notification of the same to the user. The application allows for configuration of the radius and also addition for cloud accounts such as Flickr, Google Drive for sourcing the images. Also added is a Twitter integration for sharing the pic with the geo location tagged in it.

I'm a huge fan of unconferences due to their simple yet productive concept. You can often find me at barcamps and devcamps. I have also been lucky to organize a couple of TEDx events - I was one of the chief coordinators of TEDxSSN- a Technology, Entertainment and Design themed conference series under the slogan of "Ideas worth Spreading".

In my spare time you can often find me going for a jog at the neighborhood park or in a friendly game of shuttle or table tennis! I am a huge fan of Roger Federer, DADA and MS Dhoni. I also love catching up on sitcoms/series such as Sherlock, Big Bang theory, Suits or Friends!

I love travelling, connecting with new people and getting to know about them! So ping anytime! Cya soon!
