What began as an escape from boredom gradually evolved into an escape from stress. Though progress is slow, and my performance is still grossly subpar, the sport has become an unexpected piece of my life.
I'm a competitor at heart, and used to routinely play basketball in my free time to remain preoccupied. However, Corona took this option off the board. Luckly for me though, I had a couple of pals who worked at a nearby golf course and they offered to bring me out for free. This is how it all began.
Now, multiple times a week, I'm either playing with friends or practicing on the range. What makes the hobby so much enjoyable is my passion for music. Whether going head to head against friends, or just taking an easy round, the calming vocals of Marvin Gaye, or other similar artists always blare from the cart.
The only thing better than battling with friends for 18 holes, or sometimes more, is saluting them for a great round on the final green. I plan to continue using this sport as my escape for many years to come and hope to continue getting better with each passing week.
