Choosing Between A Travel Trailer Or A Motorhome

Ask any die hard "RVer" if they prefer a travel trailer or a motorhome and most likely each will have a strong opinion as to why their choice is the best. Truthfully, the decision of this depends on a few factors that are specific to the individual or family that will be using the RV. Cost may be a factor along with personal preference, traveling needs, and even driving experience.Of course, the cost of any newer motorhomes for sale is going to be more expensive than any travel trailers for sale. This is because the motorhome is an all-inclusive RV. The living area, similar to a trailer, is attached to the motorized chassis. Because the buyer is purchasing a vehicle, as well as living quarters, the price is much greater than a trailer of similar size.Though, if cost isn't a factor, some of the advantages of a motorhome are that while traveling on the road, there is mobility allowed for the passengers. Bathrooms and snacks can be handled without stops. A motorhome is easier to back up than a trailer, as trailers can be tricky for some less experienced drivers. A motorhome without a tow vehicle can be limiting. A tow vehicle is a smaller vehicle that is towed behind the motorhome. This allows the campers to use the small vehicle for travelingin town so the motorhome can stay set up at a campsite, avoiding the need to break camp down for day trips. Without a tow car, it can be difficult to maneuver a large motorhome through city traffic or popular tourist attractions. Some "RVers" prefer trailers hands down. While a luxury trailer may be pricey, the cost will not come close to the price of a motorhome, which is a great advantage to some. A trailer does require a proper towing vehicle. This rig is usually a 3/4 ton to 1-ton truck. If not already owned, this can add greatly to the cost of the setup. Though travelers must stay in the rig while traveling, it is convenient to unhook at the campsite and have the truck available for travel around town.Of course, there is no right or wrong choice in this matter, only preference based on needs. By weighing the pros and cons before purchase, one can be assured they've picked the right RV for their needs and can look forward to making many happy memories.
