Jay Lessert

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, began playing drums at the age of 2 and started playing professionally when I was 14. Moved to Nashville in 1989 with nothing but drums, clothes, $300, and most importantly FAITH. I was told by an elder of my Native American Tribe that when I play drums it is the beat of my heart. His comment made a significant inpact on how I approach playing. Music is a part of my soul and drums my heritage, so I feel honored every time I get to share this gift. I think about what this elder said to me with every hit of my drum. Have been blessed to play with many amazing artist and musicians:
