Jayme Fraser covers politics, policy and religion for the Houston Chronicle, both for premium subscribers and on the free website.

She strives to evaluate social and political issues with people-focused narratives and investigative reporting. She has covered governments from city councils to state legislatures and tribal governments to federal commissions. She also has reported on higher education, breaking news, religion and Native American issues.

She graduated from The University of Montana’s School of Journalism in May 2012 after studying written, photographic and multimedia storytelling. While there, the Society for Professional Journalists recognized her work and Investigative Reporters and Editors selected her for a training program. She interned with The Seattle Times, the state politics and photography teams at The Oregonian, the Missoulian and The Cody Enterprise. She also was a Hearst Journalism Fellow.

This Wyoming girl spends her free time reading, hiking, cheering on the Portland Timbers, listening to blues rock, playing card games with family, taking photos, and baking blueberry banana bread.
