There I was, staring at the buttocks of a 60 year old woman. You may be wondering how I got to this point in my life… so here is the story. It was the summer going into my Junior year and my parents told me that it was time to get a job. In order to start the process I sent out approximately ten resumes. It became clear that this was going to be a difficult task due to my requested flexible work schedule as I was a busy 16 year old with a lot of summer activities.

Then finally, my best friend's mother asked me if I would like to work as a medical assistant at her cosmetics office with decent pay and a flexible work schedule. I accepted the job thinking I would be shadowing a Nurse Practitioner which intrigued me because I wanted to become a Physician’s Assistant so I figured this opportunity would provide some experience. Little did I know what I was about to get thrown into.

The first day of work I learned about all the programming and was told that I would be doing a lot of patient paperwork as well as asking the patients questions about medical history. The other part of my job was taking pictures for before and after montages for Instagram.

Week one was all botox and lip filler which was all fascinating to me and I thought that was the majority of what I would see. When I came back to work for my second week my boss told me all about a new product we would be providing which was called Quo and it was for cellulite in the butt and thighs of women. When I looked at the schedule and saw that one of the patients we had today was receiving this treatment I was thrilled. This is when it happened.

When I walked into the room to talk to the patient about their paperwork I was not expecting to see this very sweet old woman with her pants down examining her butt in the mirror. I asked her to please put her clothing back on as I was only the medical assistant and just needed to ask her a few questions about her allergies. Lucky the women complied and I am just going to say that this was not the last butt I would see during my time at the office.
