Jay-Sheree Allen

Jay-Sheree Allen is a 2nd year medical student at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She currently serves as Miss Meharry 2012-2013; the official Ambassador between Meharry Medical College and the Nashville community. She served as the Community Service Chair for the School of Medicine's Class of 2015 for the 2011-2012 academic year. She graduated from The City College of the City University of New York (CUNY) in May 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology Magna Cum Laude. However, she began her studies at New York University in 2006.

She is the recipient of a 2011 Pearson Prize National Fellowship for her commitment to community service, a 2009-2011 New York Life Undergraduate Fellow with the Colin Powell Center for Policy Studies, a 2009-2010 CUNY Leadership Academy Fellow and an Ann Kheel Community Service Scholar with the Charles Rangel Center at the City College of New York.

She is the Founder and visionary behind the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Women of Excellence, Strength & Tenacity, Incorporated (WEST) www.westinc.org whose mission is to empower young women to develop their strengths and leadership abilities, live up to their highest potential and motivate each other to become more influential voices in the world.

She worked for the New York University Metropolitan Center for Urban Education as a Classroom Consultant at PS 154M in Central Harlem, fulfilled a one year commitment with Jumpstart Americorps in New York City and taught biology and chemistry in Tanzania, Africa to over 150 young women in Girls Empowerment Science Camps. She was a speaker at the 2009 Jamaica Youth Diaspora Conference at The University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica.

Jay-Sheree Allen, the oldest of her parent's 5 children, hails from the island of Jamaica and currently resides in Nashville, TN.
