An accomplished and passionate psychiatrist, Dr. Jay Temkin studied Biology at the City University of New York (CUNY) at Queens College before entering Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Escuela de Medicina in Mexico. With a Doctor of Medicine Diploma, Dr. Jay Temkin returned to the United States to serve in the New York health care system. For more than a decade, Dr. Jay Temkin provided psychiatric and psychopharmacological help to patients with a variety of conditions. Dr. Jay Temkin worked as an Attending Physician in Psychiatry at Lincoln Hospital, Jamaica Hospital, and Coney Island Hospital, as well as at the Health Insurance Plan (HIP) Queens Center.
In 2002, Dr. Jay Temkin relocated to Naples, Florida to launch Jay L. Temkin, M.D., M.A., P.A., also known as Accelerated Psychotropics. Since that time, Dr. Jay Temkin has provided patients with medication management skills and an in-depth education on their psychotropic therapy. Dr. Jay Temkin focuses on Adult Psychiatry, serving those between the ages of 18 and 64, and is qualified to treat conditions such as Schizoaffective Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Alcohol Dependence, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, and Attention Deficit Disorder.
Dr. Jay Temkin has garnered recognition for his commitment to humanitarian efforts. During 9/11, Dr. Jay Temkin treated rescue workers at the World Trade Center and organized mental health assistance at the site of Ground Zero. Jay Temkin has also volunteered as an Emergency Psychiatrist with the Red Cross, which enabled him to treat the family members of individuals killed on American Airlines Flight 587. In addition to these time-sensitive efforts, Dr. Jay Temkin has raised funds for earthquake rescue efforts in Haiti. In addition, in 1977 he won first place in the American Diabetes Association Bike-A-Thon in Queens, New York. From 1977-1978 he was an Emergency Medical Technician covering weekend call with the Little Neck-Douglaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
