Jennifer Zajac aka JZ

Charlotte, N.C.

I've been writing stories since I was 6 years old. I got paid to do that as a journalist for about 20 years and wrote a syndicated, award-winning humor column for Central Virginia newspapers. Now I work for a Fortune 250 company in Charlotte, where I write executive speeches and communications.

My husband and I met while performing in ComedySportz, a Washington, D.C. improv group that almost didn't take me because they shunned stand-up comics, even one who won The coveted Doritos-Sticklets Comedy Competition at The George Washington University.

We have two kids, two labs and one loud house.

My latest projects:

  • Trixie and the Mixed-Up Wish, a children's picture book about a shooting star with a speeding problem.
  • Liam the Leprechaun, a picture book that explains why the classroom's a mess every St. Patrick's Day.
  • Wheaties McFinn, a middle grade novel that's on its third revision. More to come on that.
  • Education
    • University of Colorado Denver
    • The George Washington University
