My name is JazMaine Melendrez, and I was born and raised in Carlsbad, N.M. I am currently going to college while raising my 1-year old daughter. I am a fun, outgoing person, and my family is very important me. My dream career is to be a preschool teacher or own a childcare service. I am going to college to get my degree in early childhood education. My experience I have working with little kids would be I helped my grandmother with little kids all ages, which she was state certified caregiver. Another experience I have working with little kids is taking care of my daughter and nephews. I also worked at daycare with babies 0 – 6 years old.
I played a lot of sports when I was growing up. The main sport I played all the time was soccer. When I get a little free time, I will play one-on-one with my brother. I tried doing cheerleading when I was about 10-years old, but it turned out cheerleading wasn’t for me. I played volleyball for a year it; I didn’t really like it because I only stayed in one spot and couldn’t be active. I loved playing basketball too. I tried out for baseball when I was 12-years old. I played on the boys team, but for the following year my coach advised me to try out for softball.
I have some experience in volunteering. When I was little girl, I would volunteer with my friends and grandpa. The first time I volunteered was for Habit for humanity. Habit for Humanity builds homes for people who don’t have any.” I would help throw fundraisers and decorate Christmas floats for them. I also volunteered at the Riverside Walk where I would pick up trash to help the beach look clean.
I started working when I was 16-years old. My first job was at Wal-Mart as a sales associate in furniture, HBA, paper goods, chemicals, pets, grocery, and toys. I also worked at Aladdin Castle as a teacher aid. When I was working at Aladdin Castle, I would get breakfast, lunch, and snacks ready for the kids. I would teach the child ABC’s, shapes, and numbers. I would take them out side for outdoor activities and make sure the kids were taking naps.
The reason why I love taking care is because they give you this warn feeling and they just know how make you smile. The little kids just love learning and they love to ask a lot questions. I love getting to know each lit
