Juan Carlos Barahona, PhD
Teacher, Consultant, and Public Speaker in Costa Rica
Dr. Barahona is Associate Professor of Management of Technology and Innovation at INCAE the leading Business School in Latin America, where he also serves as the Academic Director of the Executive Master in Marketing and Digital Transformation.
Currently, Dr. Barahona´s research interest is focused on the role of informal social networks and the study of subjectivity to improve adoption of digital solutions within the firm, manage change and build a culture of innovation.
He has consulted governments and companies in several Latin American and Caribbean countries, served as board member of private and non-for-profit organizations and is founding president of Sociometrika, a design firm focused helping companies solve complex problems through collaboration.
He was previously a researcher at the MIT Media Lab. He received his Ph.D. from MIT for his work with Alex `Sandy’ Pentland, director of MIT’s Human Dynamics Laboratory and the MIT Media Lab Entrepreneurship Program and one of the seven most powerful data scientists in the world named by Forbes in 2012.
