Jason Borgen

Felton, CA

Jason is a native to using technology in education. Jason taught middle school science and AVID from 2001-2007 in the Silicon Valley area. Focused in the use of project-based learning through collaborative projects, he helped many students succeed who would have been forgotten and lost in the system. Scientific probeware and 24/7 learning environments were regularly used and promoted in these schools. During his tenure, Jason spent time providing technology support and professional development to teachers, administrators, and students which included integrating class Web sites, assisting with the school's Student Information System, and assisting students and teachers in using web-based resources to integrate into the curriculum. Jason earned a Masters degree in educational leadership from San Jose State University. He is currently working for The Technology Information Center for Administrative Leadership (TICAL), a statewide project in California, funded by the Department of Education. Jason became a Google Certified Teacher in 2008, LEC Certified in Online and Blended Teaching in 2011, for the Administrator in 2012, and Professional Developer in 2012. Jason is Co-Chair of CUE's AdminSIG and Co-President of the TriCUE Affiliate. Jason presents at national, statewide, and regional education conferences and is an adjunct faculty member at the National Hispanic University providing technology and learning coursework to graduate students working on their California teaching credentials.

It is essential to create a digital presence to showcase and demonstrate digital literacy compentencies. Whether we as individuals are at the beginng, in the middle, or at the end of our careers, part of our social presence is digital thus we must, as democratic citizens, continue to develop and grow our digital presence.
