João Rafael Brites

Lisbon, Portugal

I am the co-founder of Projecto Transformers, an entirely youth-led initiative based in Portugal that is using the power of the Arts, Sports and Hip-Hop to turn teens into transformers.

This project was born from my own personal experience as a competitive swimmer who dropped swimming to follow a childhood dream of learning how to b-boying (or breakdance), which i did, in the streets of Palmela, with the In Motion crew.

I am a British Council Global Changemaker since 2009 and I have been representing youth at high-level events such as the 2010 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, in Davos, or the 2011 General Assembly of the Red Cross Red Crescent Societies. I am also a member of the Global Shapers Lisbon Hub.

Until now I have been participating in conferences and projects in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Singapore, India and Zimbabwe.

Currently, I am 22 years old and I am taking the CEMS Masters in International Management at Nova SBE in Lisbon. I am also a teaching assistant of the courses of Information Systems and Communication and Leadership at this school.

I am passionate about dance, friends, family, social innovation and I hold close to me the belief that everyone has a superpower and that everyone can be a super hero.

Peace,
